Our Philosophy
PamMomm'E is an environment where all kinds of children and their families know they are welcome and safe. Our goal is to prepare children for their next level of learning, wherever they may be in the learning scale. We do so by discovering each child's special interests and targeting those interests with learning tools and play that will help build life skills. We provide guidance with redirection, role play and respect for children, and we continually strive for excellence in health, safety, and nutritious foods. We work hard and attend regular training to stay current on the latest childcare and development techniques.
Our Story
Pamela Steele opened the PamMomm'E Child Kare in 2003.
Pamela has been taking care of children since she was a child herself - of course in the beginning she was just playing the role of mommy. But after several years in the business world, She decided to return to her passion of caring for kids.
So, she went to an area in downtown Indianapolis that needed some TLC, acquired a "fixer upper" house, and renovated it herself.
It was her grandson who came up with the name she gave to her childcare. She tells the story, "He heard people call me 'Pam' and my daughter call me 'Mommy,' so he put them together to form 'Pam-Mommy'." To her grandson and to many other children who have experienced her mother-like kindness and caring, the name fits perfectly.
Since then, she acquired a second house, three doors down, and fixed it up, too. The Learning Playhouse was developed, giving her more space and the ability to "graduate" students from the infant / toddler environment to one designed specifically for school readiness and after school programs.
